New Linkup! From Scratch Fridays #1

Marriage from Scratch

Hello and welcome to From Scratch Fridays
I created this link up to inspire the readers here at Marriage from Scratch in a creative way (through food, crafts, furniture, organization, and anything else). I am so excited to see all of the delicious, creative, and fun things you have been working on lately.

I have a delicious recipe to share with you today that my hubby and I created.

French Onion Soup:

What you will need:
3 Tbsp. unsalted butter
8 large yellow onions, thinly sliced
2 sprigs fresh thyme
2/3 cup sherry
1/2 dry red wine
4 cups beef broth
2 cups chicken broth
1 clove garlic, cut in half
1/2 cup. Gruyere cheese, shredded
1/2  cup cheddar cheese, shredded
1 tsp Herbs De Provence
1 Bay leaf
Bread

Procedure:

Melt butter in a large pot (at least 6-8 quarts). Add onions and thyme, stir frequently. Add a pinch of salt. Cook for about 30 minutes until onions have cooked down and are golden brown, stirring frequently.

Deglaze pan with sherry and cook it is absorbed by the onions. The onions will turn a dark brown color  in10-15 minutes.
Add beef broth, chicken broth, red wine, Herbs De Provence, and the bay leaf. Bring mixture to a boil.Simmer for about 30 minutes. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
Remove bay leaf from soup.

In separate bowl, mix shredded cheese together. Top slices of bread with cheese mixture and toast in toaster over. Please in bowl with soup. Enjoy!

  1. Thanks for the new link-up :) I don't know my way around the kitchen as much as I would like, but I just recently decided that I want that to change. This link-up will definitely help with that :)

  7. Hello Dear!
You have such a cute blog. I linked up a few recipes. Here are a few tips I wish someone would have given me when I started my blog.

1-The background in your post area should be white. Food looks yummier (yummier is totally a word)on a white back ground.

2-Take the pics of your food outside in the shade. Indirect sunlight makes food look drool worthy.

3-Submit your photos to www.foodgawker.com and www.tastespotting.com Every time a pic of mine gets accepted my traffic goes up by 3000-4000 page views. The only draw back is they only accept photos from a DSLR camera. If you are serious about wanting your blog to succeed invest in one.

4-Please feel free to drop me an email with any questions you might have. I certainly don't know everything but what I do know I am more than happy to share.

    Happy Friday,
    Heather
